Kintsugi is the Japanese art of mending broken pottery with gold, honoring the fracture rather than hiding it. Here the sugar cane paper is torn and rejoined the same way — veins of gold leaf tracing each break — and the saguaro it bears is broken with it. What was wounded is made whole again along the golden seams, the repair left visible and beautiful.
